Defining Success Strategies

Simply mimicking the actions of your peers is a reflex, not a strategy. Simply mimicking your peers severely reduces your options for business success and organizational performance. Success strategies are individual, tailor-made and frequently go against the mainstream.

Organizational Future

Changing environments force those being part of the environment to change as well. Growing, shrinking, occupying new niches, or learning new tricks are all strategies to permanently adapt to changing environments. The biological process of adaption is called evolution, the respective business process comes under the heading management.

However, strategy should not be confounded with fantasy. Strategy and strategy development need a set of rules in which to be as creative as possible. Strategy is about achieving objectives and the very first step towards that is a very clear and very precise description of the objective as such.

Without such a clear description it is almost impossible to identify parameters which will indicated if the company gets any closer to the objectives. As a result, strategy projects will be reduced to an operational level, objectives will be replaced by a project plan and the crucial strategy tracking will be degraded to a project plan monitoring.

Qemicon supports strategy development and strategy execution.

Supporting Strategies

  • Identification of strategic objectives.
  • Definition of strategic objectives.
  • Identification of tracking parameters.
  • Strategy performance tracking.

Inverse Thinking

Where exactly do we want to be after strategy execution? How exactly does it “look” where we want to be? What are the objectives? What is their exact description? This is the starting point of the inverse thinking process.

Once the objectives are adequately described, parameters that allow performance tracking for each objective need to be identified and established.

Once that is done, the inverse thinking process reaches operational level, allocating resources, designing activities, checking the real starting point of the given situation.

All that remains is switching from the direction of thought to the direction of work.
