Achieving excellence in chemistry, manufacturing and control (CMC) is key for biopharma start-ups, since CMC triggers major milestones such as pre-clinical and clinical PoC studies. Right from the beginning, the Galimedix management team was aware of the roadblock potential of CMC and CMC’s impact on achievement of our objectives and on our successful exit. However, lacking the internal expertise, CMC remained an unsolved problem.

Contracting Markus Henrich for the entire CMC management of Galimedix turned out to be a perfect solution. The Galimedix management team could focus on all the other aspects of the project while Markus
guaranteed smooth CMC processes, in-time delivery of results and reliable and creative input to planning and strategy. He also managed the entire collaboration with third party CMC providers.

In addition, Markus managed to create new IP for Galimedix in the CMC field. The resulting Galimedix patent applications represented a significant value generation and helped tremendously in discussions with investors.

Markus is a highly experienced and motivated CMC professional. He works reliably, efficiently, and according to highest scientific standards. As a team player, a creative thinker, and a precise communicator he is very much appreciated by all colleagues.  It is a pleasure to work with Markus.

Biotech start-ups have to operate lean and therefore seek team members, advisors and consultants who are willing to work on a rather flexible schedule and can take responsibility for fairly large areas of work.

EXCIVA is an example of such early-phase company that lacked any internal knowledge or skills in chemistry, manufacturing and control (CMC) while CMC milestones and timelines were (and remain to be) in focus of the company’s Board and investors.

Contracting Markus Henrich for the entire CMC management of Exciva addressed all the needs that the company had in this field – from completing a CMC part of a due diligence on an important product to setting up API synthesis and selection of CROs for drug product development.

Markus is a top-level medicinal chemist with decades of experience in drug discovery research and it is thanks to Markus’ expertise that Exciva was able to set up API production in a record time and to address all key questions that arose without making it a major discussion topic for internal meetings.

Several Exciva team members have previously worked with Markus on other projects and the collaboration on Exciva project has once again indicated all the values of working together with Markus. It is a pleasure to work with Markus.

Markus has a particular strength for forming and guiding interdisciplinary research and development teams. Defining common goals, facilitating interdisciplinary understanding and creating positive attitudes results in spirited and focused research and development teams.

Together with Markus Henrich, Quattro research has realised a couple of challenging R&D software projects. His detailed knowledge of scientific questions in combination with his processual understanding and his clear and ambitious expectations with regard to the final result were essential for project success.
